Hello GCS Families!
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
The Greenland Parent Organization is looking forward to the year ahead with the spirit of “Be Creative”! The GPO’s involvement with the school is an invaluable way for YOU to connect with other parents, support all students and faculty, and have fun! Together, we can help our school community shine this year more than ever.
Who We Are
The Greenland Parent Organization (GPO) is a parent-led, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide support, programs and financial assistance to enrich and benefit the GCS school community. Like most public schools, budgets are strictly planned and limited, and teachers often use their own money to enrich their student’s classroom experience. The GPO helps provide much needed financial support, and we offer a lot of enrichment fun for the greater community too!
The GPO Board for 2024-2025 has transitioned to a modern, efficient version of leadership. We no longer operate with a small group of volunteers leading the majority of the work of the GPO. Instead, the GPO depends on all families to get involved in one or several projects each year.
The current GPO Board Leaders hold three key roles:
Project Manager (Jennifer Milkey): Serves as a coordinator, supported by volunteers to execute GPO-sponsored events throughout the year. The Project Manager is the liaison between the GPO and the school. Responsibilities include overseeing the full year calendar of events and ongoing communication with GCS administration.
Project Administrator (Anna Brennen-Curry): Provides administrative support to the GPO, in partnership with the Project Manager.
GPO Accountant (Kevin Bowersox): Oversees and is responsible for all general accounting duties and associated financial transaction activities. Collaborates with the Project Manager and Administrator to advise on budgeting for all GPO lead initiatives/committees.
How Can You Get Involved?
Join or lead a GPO committee! The GPO and GCS have partnered together and have developed a calendar of proposed activities for the 2024-2025 school year. Please consider sharing your time, resources, and skills to make each event a success! Kindly respond to the Google FORM so we may have an updated list of volunteers. All committees will have the help of the GPO leadership to facilitate and organize the events throughout the year.
We look forward to another great year together!
